I’m not fast food!!!

So there are these quizzes that are on Facebook. And I took one that was called “What kind of Kuwaiti Are You?”, the result I got was the following:

The Chicken Nugget Kuwaiti

Your middle name is badliyat, and you probably know more about London than you do about Kuwait. You can’t read an arabic newspaper, let alone write a sentence. The word “qawa3ed” automatically produces goosebumps all over your body πŸ˜‰ You studied in private schools, and was always dreaming of living outside of you guessed it…Kuwait. You believe that your very open-minded, and most of the people around you are..just so damn traditional. It’s okay…it gets the best of us πŸ˜‰
Now I don’t think this describes me very well, but I have to agree that it does to some extent. My question is why are us supposed open minded people or whatever called Chicken Nuggets, I’ve heard the term thrown around before and I don’t get it.
If anything we should be called something a little less junkfoodie, I propose Tenderloin Steak or Yellowtail Sashimi :p

Tricky Weather

Sunny Day

When I came to visit my campus in the south of England it was a nice sunny day and everything looked so pretty.

I arrived in September to rainy English weather with lots that just kept getting colder and rainer, now this was not a shock to me I am familiar with English weather or iljow illandeni as we call it. But I assumed it would be warmer in the south, I mean birds fly south for the winter so I assumed the logic would apply. Weeelllllllll it didnt!!!

But there have been a few sunny days in the past month which is when I took this picture, why couldnt it always be this prettyΒ  and warm (and by warm I mean 12 degrees ). At least Im nearly done with my degree then I will be back to il7ar wil i’3bar…sigh…how I miss it.

Underground Oops

So I was in Paddington Underground station going down the stairs to the train, when I see this ad in the stairwell. Basically they are screens with electronic ads like the screens you have in marina mall except these are bigger.

What surprised me though was the Windows Error message smackdab in the middle of the advertisement. I don’t know who this situation is worse for, the company advertising its services, the company that maintains the ads on these screens, or Microsoft.

As a Mac lover myself, I say when in doubt, blame Microsoft :p

This is my horoscope today

“The lightning of emotional attraction strikes and you may feel changed by your new outlook. You thought you knew what you wanted, but suddenly everything seems new and different. You are ready to pursue the object of your love or lust, yet an inner voice cautions you against moving too fast. Even if you feel like you’ve been set free, don’t do anything you’ll need to apologize for later.”
I went to work, then stayed home and watched TV.

Somehow I don’t feel like I’m living to my full potential :p

US Actress In Arabic Video

So I was at a sheesha cafe yesterday where they had Rotana on and Amr Diab’s video Neoul Eh. I was watching when I noticed that the main girl in the video looked very familiar. Then it hit me she was on a show on MBC 4. So after extensive research (coz not being able to remember things has been known to drive me mad) I found out she was on a show called “Fashion House” and is called Natalie Martinez.

The real question is how the hell did she end up in his video clip and did she understand anything he was saying.

BTW while doing research I found out that Amr Diab was born in 1961 which makes him WAY older than I thought he was.

No! I Respect You More!

Respect is a funny thing in our society. We are taught how important respect is, how we must respect others and be respected. This I agree with wholeheartedly. What I do not agree with is the current situation of fake respect that is become not about respecting others at all but about just doing some routine thing that has been ingrained in our brains or worse to show off that you are the more respectful person.

I am rambling…bear with me, I have a point I promise :p

My worst pet peeve is the whole “yimeen” thing, that is that the person on the right is the person who goes through the doorway first. THIS IS THE WORST TRADITION EVER! I hate it! You have to stand there arguing at the door for five minutes.

Person 1:”itfathal”

Person 2:”yimeen yimeen”

Person 1:”la 7asha, itfathal”

Person2: “la walla ma ijooz, yimeen”

Morbid: “Umm…can you guys decide sometime this century, Im late for work?”

They go on and on, I was going to a meeting yesterday and between the entrance of the building and the conference room there were 4 doorways and five of us. Do you have any idea how long it took to get to the conference room?!?!?

Its become more a competition about who is the more respectful than it is about respecting the other people, it is so obviously not sincere. I do not mean to say that the people that are doing this are fake, on the contrary they are some of the nicest people you will ever meet, but its just been ingrained in them.

I cant say I am much better, as much as I hate the “yimeen” tradition, if I am on the right and the other person walks through the doorway first without offering it to me I start thinking “Did that S.O.B. just disrespect me?!??!?”.

Anywayz, sorry for the rant, I will try to keep them to a minimum. Peace out and I hope you are all having a great Ramadan πŸ™‚

Arabic Superheroes

I saw an advertisement for this on Dubai One and thought it was interesting. I went and checked the website and was pleasantly surprised, I was expecting a tacky childlike website but found a really cool website where you can find out lots of information and download the comic itself. A lot of the time when they try to make Arabic cartoons/comics/books they look really bad and I always feel disappointed because if other people can get it right why cant we? But this one actually looks good, I have not had the chance to actually read it yet because I am at work, but I intend to once I get home. The concept of it is nice, it takes place in Dubai in 2020 AD, so its futuristic and yet the hero is from the past so its still culturally relevant.

Anyways I just thought it was interesting and that it should be encouraged πŸ™‚
